Product Description

Nitobond EP is a premium, solvent-free epoxy bonding agent and primer designed for bonding new concrete to old concrete, and for applying repair mortars to concrete substrates. Supplied as a two-component system (White Base and Black Hardener), it provides visual confirmation of a proper mix by turning a uniform grey color.

Application Instructions

1. Preparation

• Clean the surface thoroughly. Remove all dust, unsound material, plaster, oil, paint, grease, corrosion, or algae.

• Roughen the surface, remove laitance, and expose aggregate via light scrabbling or grit-blasting.

• (Note: Oil/grease should be removed by steam cleaning or degreaser. Substrate soundness should be assessed by a pull-off test).

2. Mixing

• Prep: Have all steel reinforcement and formwork cut, shaped, and ready before mixing.

• Stir: Stir the ‘hardener’ and ‘base’ separately.

• Combine: Pour the entire ‘hardener’ into the ‘base’ tin.

• Mix: Use a slow-speed, heavy-duty drill and paddle. Mix for 2 minutes until uniform in color. Scrape the sides of the tin, and mix for an additional 2 minutes.

3. Application

• Apply immediately after mixing via brush or heavy-duty airless spray (e.g., Graco with 19-20 thou tip).

• Erect formwork/reinforcement securely as soon as Nitobond EP is applied.

• Apply new concrete/screed while the Nitobond EP is still tacky (within 90 minutes at 20°C).

• Note: If the coat becomes dry/tack-free, a second coat must be applied the same day (otherwise mechanical removal of the first coat is required).

Technical Specifications

• Coverage: 4 to 5 m² / litre

• Supply / Packaging: Available in 1.5 litre and 6 litre 2-component packs.

• Storage & Shelf Life: 24 months from the date of manufacture when kept in a dry store in original unopened packs. (Note: High storage temperatures may reduce shelf life).
