Application Methodology
Step 1: Surface Preparation
-
Ensure substrate is clean, sound, and free from dust, grease, coatings, and loose particles
-
Remove all unsound concrete until sound substrate is reached
-
Seal and cure cracks and potholes properly
-
Mechanically roughen smooth surfaces (scrabbling, needle gun, grit blasting)
-
Clean corroded reinforcement to a bright metal finish
-
Rust removal using emery cloth, grit blasting, or approved rust remover/converter is recommended
Step 2: Substrate Priming
-
Thoroughly soak substrate with clean water and remove excess
-
Prepare slurry primer:
1 part ReArm SBR 45 : 1 part water : 3 parts fresh cement -
Mix cement slowly into the liquid to achieve smooth consistency
-
Scrub slurry well into the substrate
-
Apply repair mortar/render while slurry is still wet
-
If slurry dries, remove and re-prime before continuing
For permanently damp substrates or special conditions, epoxy bonding primer may be required.
Step 3: Mixing Instructions
-
Add ReArm SBR 45 to cement/mortar/concrete/grout as per application
-
Mixing should preferably be done by volume
-
For waterproofing slurry or bonding coat, add cement into polymer for consistent mix
Step 4: Curing & Finishing
Curing
-
Cure immediately after finishing using proper cement curing practices
-
Use curing compounds or polythene sheets in harsh drying conditions
Finishing
-
Finish with steel, plastic, or wood float, or damp sponge
-
Avoid over-working the surface
