Brushbond RFX BD
High-Performance Elastomeric Cementitious Waterproof Coating
Description
Brushbond RFX is a two-component acrylic polymer-modified cementitious coating, consisting of Brushbond RFX powder and Brushbond RFX liquid acrylic emulsion. Simply add clean water on-site to produce an easily brushable coating. It can be applied using a stiff brush, roller, or trowel to achieve the desired thickness.
Uses
Brushbond RFX provides a high-performance, flexible, and durable waterproof coating. It protects reinforced concrete structures from acid gases, chloride ions, oxygen, and water. Suitable for all types of structures, including coastal environments, it can be applied to concrete, brick, and blockwork, on both new and existing surfaces.
The product is ideal for:
-
Water tanks and reservoirs
-
Basements and drainage culverts
-
Roofs, toilets, and wet areas
Brushbond RFX also refaces uneven concrete and masonry surfaces, bridges shrinkage cracks, and provides a seamless coating capable of withstanding light pedestrian traffic, while offering excellent exterior weather resistance.
Advantages
-
Excellent barrier against carbon dioxide, chloride, and sulphate ions
-
Allows water vapor to escape
-
Waterproof—suitable for water-retaining structures
-
High resistance to long-term weathering and UV attack
-
Nontoxic—ideal for potable water tanks
-
Flexible, with thermal expansion similar to concrete
-
Excellent adhesion to concrete and masonry
-
Good crack accommodation capacity
-
Minimal surface preparation required, reducing labor costs
Standards Compliance
Tested to: ASTM D4060, ASTM D4541, ASTM D638, ASTM C836
Application Instructions
Surface Preparation:
Ensure all surfaces are free from oil, laitance, grease, wax, dirt, or other contaminants. Clean concrete with high-pressure water, grit blasting, or wire brushing. Repair spalled surfaces, blow holes, and cracks using suitable repair mortars (e.g., Renderoc).
Mixing:
-
Pour Brushbond RFX liquid into a plastic container or metal drum.
-
Add clean water as per the recommended ratio.
-
Gradually add the powder while mixing with a slow-speed propeller agitator (500 rpm) for 2–4 minutes.
-
Use immediately after mixing; do not exceed the pot life. Stir continuously during application.
Mixing Ratios:
| Component | Industrial Pack | Small Pack |
|---|---|---|
| Brushbond RFX Powder | 15 kg | 5 kg |
| Brushbond RFX Liquid | 5.088 kg | 1.71 kg |
| Water | 3 L | 1 L |
Application:
-
Surface should be damp before application.
-
Apply with a short stiff brush (120–150 mm) in 2 coats for 1 mm thickness.
-
Second coat should be applied once the first coat is touch-dry.
-
For areas under moderate or heavy loads, a minimum 2 mm thickness with screed above is recommended.
-
Average drying time: 4–6 hours at normal temperatures.
Cleaning:
Clean tools immediately with water. Hardened material must be removed mechanically.
