What is Micro Silica
Micro silica is a densified dry grey amorphous and highly reactive silica powder used as admixture in Portland cement concrete and mortars to increase strength, workability, durability and other properties. Micro silica is a highly reactive pozzolanic material that consists primarily of fine silicon dioxide particles. Unlike quartzite and minerals silica primarily non reactive particles Micro Silica has highly amorphous in nature rapidly reacts with calcium hydroxide bye product. Micro silica meets the requirements of ASTMC-1240 and contains a minimum of 95% silicon dioxide (SiO2
Product Description:
Micro Silica is a super pozzolan – a finely powdered material which when added to cementitious matter increases durability and gives higher strength. It complies with ASTM C1240.

ADVANTAGES:
- * Higher compressive strength by 10-20 %
- * Reduces the rate of carbonation
- * Lower permeability – resistance to penetration of water, chloride & other chemicals
- * Lower free lime formation – delays ettringite and Thomasite formation
- * Controls bleeding in fresh concrete
- * Lower Heat of Hydration, which prevents formation of cracks.
PROPERTIES:
- Appearance : Very fine powder
- Colour : Grey, Black, White
- Odour : Odourless
- Mean particle size : 25 microns
- SiO2 – Silica : 85 % minimum
- Humidity : 2 % maximum
- Loss on ignition at 800°C : 4 % maximum
