Nitoflor Hardtop Standard
Non-metallic, Monolithic Surface Hardening Compound for Fresh Concrete Floors
Product Description
Nitoflor Hardtop Standard is a quality-controlled, factory-blended powder, ready to use on site. It contains specially selected quartz-silica aggregates, chosen for their exceptional abrasion and wear resistance, as well as optimal shape and size. Combined with high-performance workability admixtures, this ensures the material is easy to trowel into fresh, wet concrete.
Upon curing, Nitoflor Hardtop Standard forms a dense, non-porous surface that is extremely hardwearing and abrasion-resistant. Its monolithic curing eliminates common issues associated with thin granolithic screeds, such as shrinkage and cracking. Being non-metallic, it provides a non-slip surface that will never rust or disintegrate.
Uses
Nitoflor Hardtop Standard provides a highly abrasion-resistant surface through the dry shake-on method, ensuring a monolithic bond with the base concrete. It is ideal for all industrial areas subject to heavy traffic, including:
-
Loading bays
-
Trucking lanes
-
Car parks
-
Workshops and machine shops
-
Ramps and spillways
Advantages
-
Supplied ready to use, no additives required
-
Non-metallic – does not rust or stain
-
Hard, abrasion-resistant surface
-
Forms a monolithic bond with base concrete
-
Easy and economical to apply
Specification Clause
All concrete floors shall be surfaced or broadcast with Nitoflor Hardtop Standard, a non-metallic monolithic floor hardening compound containing rust-free, hardwearing aggregates. Aggregates shall have a Moh’s hardness of 7–8.
Compressive Strength:
-
Minimum 64 N/mm² at 7 days
-
Minimum 75 N/mm² at 28 days (as per ASTM C109)
Application Instructions
Base Concrete:
-
Minimum cement content: 300 kg/m³
-
Concrete should minimize segregation and bleeding. A wet “sheen” on the surface is ideal for the first application.
-
Lay and compact concrete following standard best practices, ensuring accurate profile and full compaction, especially at bay edges and corners.
Application Rates:
| Traffic Use | Rate (kg/m²) |
|---|---|
| Heavy | 7.0 |
| Medium | 5.0 |
| Light | 3.0 |
Abrasion Resistance:
Tested as per ASTM C779 (Revolving Disk Method) to measure depth of wear in mm.
Curing:
Proper curing is essential. Recommended methods include:
-
Concore S curing membrane (most efficient)
-
Alternative approved methods such as polythene sheeting or water ponding for indoor applications
Ready to Use:
Nitoflor Hardtop Standard is supplied ready to use. Do not add cement or aggregates.
Coloured Floors:
For coloured floors, a job site trial is strongly recommended.
Surface Treatments:
Penetration-type treatments are recommended for low porosity and dust-proof properties.
